Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo:
FAIR FINALS UNDER THE LIGHTS THIS FRIDAY
Friday (Oct. 9) night’s card at The Meadows will feature the $200,000 Pennsylvania Fair Finals, with a special post of 5:10 p.m. Eight $25,000 divisions will be held, bringing together the top point-earners from the state’s county fair circuit. Action began in late June at Butler, PA and ended two weeks ago in Bloomsburg. Wednesday (Oct. 7) and Thursday (Oct. 8) action this week will begin at the regular 12:45 p.m., post time.
TOP HORSES PREP ON TUESDAY
Tomorrow morning (Oct. 6), four qualifying races will take place, and will feature several national stake contenders. In race #1, Nevis Peak will leave from post five for the Burke Stable, with Ronnie Wrenn slated to drive. Nevis Peak, by Walner, is 2-for-6 so far, with a mark of 1:53.4 and earnings over $150,000. Qualifier #3 will feature the sophomore trotting filly Victoriana’s Secret, out of the Vernon Beachy barn. The Tactical Landing filly is 8-for-11 this year, with earnings over $360,000. Wrenn will drive her from post six. Burke and Wrenn will team again in the fourth race, as freshman colt pacer Eastie Boy (Sweet Lou) will leave from post six. Eastie Boy has banked over a half million dollars in nine lifetime starts, with a mark of 1:49.2.

PINK OUT
Friday’s card will also be the annual Pink Out event to help the fight against breast cancer. Several events are planned, including two races for female drivers. The track and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association will be donating its commissions from one race to the fight against breast cancer. Another feature on the card will be the annual Corgi races. Three divisions of the short-legged wonders will compete in elimination heats, with the top sprinters returning for the final.
