Lexington, KY – Trotting filly Creole Queen, a daughter of Tactical Landing-Bayou, topped Wednesday’s (Oct. 7) third session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, selling for $275,000 to Marcus Melander, as agent, at Fasig-Tipton Pavilion.

Creole Queen is from the family of Dan Patch Award winner Pizza Dolce, which includes Dan Patch Award winners Bella Bellini (a two-time honoree, including 2022 Trotter of the Year) and Bond. She was bred by Diamond Creek Farm and consigned by Alliance Bloodstock. She is New Jersey and Kentucky eligible.
Second on the list of top sellers was trotting colt Abebe, a son of Gimpanzee-Dibaba S who was purchased for $250,000 by Anette Lorentzon, as agent. His family includes Dan Patch Award winner Lantern Kronos and millionaire The Bank, as well as the dam of graded stakes winner Bourbonista S and grandam of Hambletonian Oaks winner Nezuko Kamado S. He was bred by AB Svensk Reklamfinans and consigned by Cane Run Farm. He is Kentucky and Kentucky Stallion Bonus eligible.
Rounding out the top three Wednesday was trotting colt You Lucky Devil, a son of King Of The North-Celebrity Angel who was purchased by 15215439 Canada Inc. for $220,000. His family includes O’Brien Award winner Will Take Charge. He was bred and consigned by Kentuckiana Farms and is Ontario and Kentucky eligible.
The top selling pacer was Perfect Guy, a Perfect Sting-Beach Gal colt who was purchased for $160,000 by Ken Jacobs. His siblings include Grade 1 stakes winners Maximus Miki and Ammo as well as Grand Circuit winner Always A Miki. He was bred by Sergent Stables and consigned by Alliance Bloodstock. He is New Jersey and Florida eligible.
In total, Wednesday’s 254 yearlings sold for $11.9 million, an average of $46,969. Last year’s third session saw 229 horses sell for $11.5 million, an average of $50,445.
Through three days, this year’s sale has totaled $55.6 million for 621 horses, an average of $89,673. Last year, the total was $52.5 million for 571 horses, an average of $91,977.
The four-day sale concludes Thursday with a 7 p.m. session.
