Dayton, OH – Foxy Hill and Luke Hanners survived and early three-wide tussle and later cruised to a 2-1/2 length score in the $30,000 Filly/Mare Open Handicap Pace Thursday evening (Oct. 8) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

Foxy Hill found herself in an early battle with Alwaysbpuffing Ir (Chris Page) and Overthemoonforyou (Trevor Smith) from the rail. Foxy Hill didn’t clear to the lead until after the opening panel in :26.1.
The top-three, with Overthemoonforyou in the pocket and Alwaysbpuffing Ir in third, remained unchanged at the half-mile station in :54.4.
Anna Love N (Brett Miller) was the first to challenge the leaders from mid-pack and was second on the outside, providing cover for Naked On A Hill (Travis Seekman) at the three-quarters in 1:22.
Foxy Hill used a :28 final panel to close the deal in 1:52.
Alwaysbpuffing Ir, who was shuffled back to fifth, rallied to edge out Anna Love N for the place spot.
The 5-year-old Captaintreacherous mare is owned by Odds On Racing and trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr.
Foxy Hill has won three of her last four starts.
In the $20,000 Condition Claiming Pace for fillies and mares, Sadhaka N (Luke Hanners) and Reallyrukiddingme (Austin Hanners) battled down the lane, with the younger Hanners brother, Luke, crossing the line a half-length ahead of Austin in 1:51.3.
The win was short lived as the judges determined that the New Zealand bred Sadhaka N drifted out in the lane and impeded the progress of Reallyrukiddingme and was thus placed second.
Tr’sshining Star (Brett Miller) used a three-wide move around the final turn to secure the show spot.
Dan Venier bred, owns and trains the 4-year-old Racing Hill mare, who has put together a three-race win streak.
The DQ win was one of three victories on the card for Austin Hanners.
Racing at Dayton Raceway resumes on Friday with a 14-race card. First post is at 4 p.m.
