Ohio Ladies Pace Series recap

by Bill Peters

Edgerton, OH — The Ohio Ladies Pace Series paid visits to Preble, Auglaize, and Greene counties this past week to enhance the racing programs at the fairs in each of those counties.

It all got underway on Sunday (July 30) at the Preble County Fair at Eaton where Ulrika Fox steered My Hare Lady (Jereme’s Jet-Hare Trigger) to a winning mile in 1:59. Don Gibson trains the 8-year-old mare for owners Mike Davison and Gary Crumrin.

The Auglaize County Fair at Wapakoneta and the Greene County Fair at Xenia both hosted the ladies on Wednesday (Aug. 2).

Mandy Jones found the winner’s circle at Wapakoneta after guiding her own Rock Me Please (Rocknroll Hanover-Please Me Please) to a mile in 2:01. Mandy’s father, Brian Jones, is the 10-year-old gelding’s trainer.

Devan Miller was the winning driver at Xenia with Look Kimbo (Feelin Friskie-Look Annie). Devan also trains the 4-year-old mare for owner Elden Hall. Look Kimbo toured the Xenia oval in 2:03.1.

The next competition in the Ohio Ladies Pace Series will be at the Attica Fair at Attica on Wednesday (Aug. 9) where the races get underway at 1 p.m. Five and one-half hours later the Champaign County Fair at Urbana will have the ladies on their race program. It will be interesting to see if any of the female drivers compete at both venues.

Mandy Jones continues to lead in the points race with 353. Ulrika Fox holds down second-place with 274 points with Emily Hay is third with 205 points.
