Clay Craib hits first jackpot at Hollywood Dayton

by Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway

Dayton, OH — The 21-year-old Hoosier native, Clay Craib, notched his first driving triumph on Thursday night (Nov. 17) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway in his first drive outside the state of Indiana. The provisional reinsman guided Pan Full Of Money, a 5-year-old mare he also trains, to her maiden-breaking win in the fourth race, clocked in 1:56.4.

The rookie driver got away third along the pylons from the two-hole behind the gate, then sat chilly until the top of the lane when an opening allowed him to swing his charge three-wide for an impressive ground-eating stretch drive. Despite being better than two lengths behind as the field turned for home, Craib and Pan Full Of Money breezed past the others to win by better than three lengths. She paid $7.00 to win.

Pan Full Of Money raced five times as a 2-year-old, then not again until this year at age five. Owned by Jerry Schwartz, she now has earned $4,286 in her 11 trips to post.

Craib, who lives in Anderson, Ind., had previously made 32 starts at Hoosier Park and a handful of Indiana county fairs, where his best finishes were a handful (five) of show finishes.

He is won of eleven drivers ho won a race on the 12-race program.

Second leading driver Kayne Kauffman notched the only driving double as he guided both Petite Courageuse (1:53.2, $20.80) and Luna Hanover (1:53.1, $29.20) to upset victories.
