Washington, PA — Drivers Dan Charlino and Eric Goodell were injured in a mishap during Monday’s (July 18) second race at The Meadows.
Both men were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Initial reports indicated Charlino, 52, suffered potential lower-body injuries while Goodell, 42, was being examined for possible upper-body injuries.
The accident occurred in a race for 2-year-old filly pacers when Big Time Blaire stumbled as she was trying to gain on the leader from second, flipping Goodell to the track. PC’s Candy could not avoid the fallen horse and also fell, unseating Charlino. Both horses were up quickly and did not appear to suffer serious injury.
The Meadows will provide more specific information on the condition of the drivers as it becomes available.
