Tyler Buter to judge Yonkers’ Derby Hat Contest

Yonkers, NY — Tyler Buter, one of Yonkers Raceway’s leading drivers, becomes a judge Saturday afternoon (May 2) for Yonkers Raceway’s “Kentucky Derby Fancy Hat Contest.”

Buter is to be joined in the trackside apron reviewing stand by popular WVOX-AM Radio “Good Morning Westchester” host John Marino, and Georgette Gouveia, writer and editor for The WAG Magazine.

The first Saturday in May brings Yonkers Raceway’s own tradition, with a grand prize of $500 in cash, along with bragging rights. Second prize is $250 in cash and third prize is $100 in cash.

Contestants are required to register between 2-4 p.m. trackside, with winners announced at 5 p.m. All qualified hat contestants receive a $10 free play coupon which can be redeemed at the promotions booth.

In addition, the first 700 Empire Club members to visit the Gotham Palace promotions booth beginning at 4 p.m. receive a $2, two-horse exacta box for the Kentucky Derby (limit one per Empire Club member).

As for the 141st Derby, Yonkers Raceway again offers complete Churchill Downs wagering, with first Churchill post both Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The entire Saturday card can be advance wagered all day Friday. Post time for the Derby is scheduled for 6:34 p.m., with Yonkers’ Saturday card going at the usual 7:10 p.m.
