CS Kentucky captures Buffalo Raceway Filly and Mare Open

Hamburg, NY — On what turned out to be a cooler night with a slower track than normal, CS Kentucky (Dream Believer-Cam’s Britt) proved she was the best “new shooter” coming to Buffalo Raceway.

CS Kentucky was a neck winner over V’La Faire in the Buffalo feature.

The race set up almost perfectly for this mare who was set as the longshot on the morning line. As the race began V’La Faire (Drew Monti) went right to the lead and CS Kentucky followed on the turn as She’s A Maniac got left on the outside.

By the time the field reached the backstretch CS Kentucky had a ton of pace and went right to the lead before the quarter. When they came by the stands the first time CS Kentucky had to deal with the challenge of She’s A Maniac for just a brief moment and she hit the half in :58.3, slowing it down her own way to a :30 second panel.

It appeared Taylor Rei (Ray Fisher Jr.) would move on by as they reached the three-quarter marker, but CS Kentucky found more as V’La Faire sat in the pocket spot. When they entered the stretch V’La Faire was the one to challenge and just missed to CS Kentucky at the line in what was a stellar race from both mares.

CS Kentucky is trained by Alex Giuliani and owned by Paul and Ronald Viele. This was the fourth win in 14 starts for the 6-year-old mare.

Running Aces
Sharpshootennorris (Steve Wiseman) swept from sixth at the half to a comfortable 2-3/4 lengths victory at the wire in the $10,000 Open Trot at Running Aces Harness Park on Wednesday night. Bette Jean Calice owns the 11-year-old Earl gelding who now has 46 career triumphs and a bankroll of $446,017. Natural Forces (Kim Pluta), despite an early miscue, also closed gallantly to garner the place finish in the 1:57 mile. Rock N Martina (Scott Altizer), one of two mares in the full field, was a respectable third. The feature race win was one of two for Wiseman, who also captured the only other trot on the program with Jimmy Shin, who scored in 1:57.4 in a $4,000 conditioned event for his wife Kathleen Plested. French Eclipse (Jenni King) and Philinator T (Rob Dinning) were next across the finish line. Jason Ryan and Gerry Longo also fashioned driving doubles. Ryan scored with Tinatunasbarracuda to open the program and capped his night guiding McTone Cold to the winner’s circle in the nightcap. Longo won back-to-back conditioned paces with Nancy’s Skyscrape and Majorley.
