John Campbell “Stars” on Night School tonight

from Horse Player Now

Chicago, IL — Night School, the racing industry’s national online fan education program, welcomes a trio of Hall of Famers — harness driver John Campbell and jockeys Gary Stevens and Mike Smith — as guest instructors in this Tuesday’s “Stars of the Game” lesson on www.ustrotting.com at 8:30 p.m. (EDT) tonight.

Campbell, the all-time leading harness driver by dollars earned, will discuss his longevity and illustrious career. Stevens and Smith both will be front and center on Breeders’ Cup championship days, and Tuesday’s class not only will give fans an inside look at the successful duo, but also preview their thoughts on the upcoming big event at Santa Anita.

The trio of Hall of Famers will join Night School co-founder Jeremy Plonk and the “At the Races With Steve Byk” audience on SiriusXM satellite radio, with the audio streamed into the Night School live chat box.

Fans can take part in the class free by visiting any one of the 40-plus websites that provides the Night School lessons each week. Night School attendees will be able to pose questions to all of the guests in two manners, either by the live chat module or by joining the “At the Races with Steve Byk” live call-in show at 1.866.454.6848. Those wishing to listen in on the radio can find the program from 8:30-10 p.m. (EDT) on Sirius 93, XM 209 or at Sports Zone 961 for Sirius Online users.

For those who cannot attend live, the Night School archives always are available free, immediately following the session and beyond. Videos used in all lessons also can be seen at www.youtube.com/horseplayernow.

Week 34 of the 2013 season, which runs through the first Tuesday of December, is part of the “Championship Season & the Stars” learning pod. The final stretch of topics on the season will help horseplayers and fans gear up for major events like the Breeders’ Cup, AQHA’s Bank of America Racing Challenge Championships and more.

Presenting title sponsors for Night School are the United States Trotting Association, National Thoroughbred Racing Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Keeneland, and Churchill Downs, Inc.

Night School is offered every Tuesday for 40 consecutive weeks through Dec. 3. Topics change weekly, and fans are eligible for prizes and rewards for registering. Registration is optional and free. There is never a charge for taking part in Night School.

This week’s Night School will be followed at 10 p.m. (EDT) by the “After Night School Special,” featuring live racing from Mountaineer Park. The segment will cover the evening’s final two races in real time with free, live-streaming video. Fans wishing to take part in the Mountaineer action simply need to remain in the Night School chat after class. Complimentary past performances are available, courtesy of BRIS.
