At the track to receive the gifts were Food Bank for Westchester Executive Director Ellen Lynch and Volunteer Program Manager Nancy Lyons. Also pictured are SOA Director Sandra Kaufman and Frank Drucker and Ed Ryan from Yonkers Raceway.
The Food Bank has their annual Fight Against Childhood Hunger next month and the racetrack and casino donations will be offered as prizes that evening.
In April, several track employees and horsemen visited the Food Bank, which is just a short drive from the racetrack, to assist in getting food ready to be delivered to those in need. Volunteers for the cause included regular Yonkers drivers Jason Bartlett, Brent Holland, Mark MacDonald, Larry Stalbaum and Jordan Stratton.
The Food Bank for Westchester is one of eight food banks in New York State. It acquires, warehouses and distributes more than seven million pounds of food annually to more than 220 frontline hunger-relief organizations throughout Westchester including food pantries, soup kitchens, child and adult day-care centers and shelters.
