Tuesday’s lesson will feature a live chat preview of Thursday’s Jug program. Night School harness regular T. J. Burkett, who serves as the executive editor of Hoof Beats magazine, the official publication of the U. S. Trotting Association, and Sam McKee, the co-host of the Delaware County Fair simulcast signal, will join Horse Player NOW’s Joe Kristufek.
Tuesday’s panel discussion and Q&A will address harness handicapping principles and how they relate to the unique Little Brown Jug program, which will be contested over the half-mile oval at the Delaware County Fair.
A horse has to win two heats to be declared the winner of the Jug, the second leg of the Pacing Triple Crown. There will be three elimination heats with the top qualifying horses returning for a second heat. If no horse has won two heats after that second heat, the four winners return again for a final race.
On Thursday (Sept. 19), Horse Player NOW and the USTA will present a Little Brown Jug Day live chat with free live video. Hosted by Horse Player NOW’s Joe Kristufek and Hoof Beats writer and USTA blogger Tim Bojarski, the chat begins at 10:30 p.m. (EDT) at this link.
