Frank Plantan, 88, dies

Columbus, OH — Frank Plantan, 88, died Sept. 10, 2013, in Dover, Del.

Mr. Plantan was the leading trainer of Winterset Farms in the 1960s and 1970s. He trained and drove the well known horse Winterset Petey, owned by Richerd E. Merchant of Winterset Farms, to many victories.

Winterset Farms would hold matinee races and many drivers got their start there.
