GSY Series at Meadowlands to Peter Kleinhans

by Matt Zuccarello

East Rutherford, NJ — The second leg of the GSY Series took place on Friday night (July 19) at the Meadowlands and was captured with a masterful drive by Peter Kleinhans.

Arid N, driven by Kleinhans, got away last, 11 lengths off the pace, in the 10 horse amateur field after starting from the dreaded 10 post.

Dave Yarock set the pace and blistered off an eye popping :26.3 first quarter for this $5,000 claiming field. He led the pack to the three-quarter pole and then the closers came on the outside into the long stretch of the Big M.

Kleinhans, who owns the 12-year-old New Zeland bred gelding, paced the mile in 1:56.1. Monica Banca aboard Distinct Color held on for second as a fast closing Danger Sign N and Robert Hechkoff rounded out the top three.

The next leg of the series takes place at Saratoga Raceway on July 31.
