Sweet taste for Creme Brulee in Sweden

Halmstad, SE — Crème Brulee, a 4-year-old mare, won the Stosprintern, the mare division of Sprintermästaren in Halmstad, Sweden Friday night.

Crème Brulee won the mare division of the Stosprintern in Halmstad, Sweden Friday night.

Crème Brulee, who is a stable mate of the Finnish Trotting star, Brad de Veluwe, took command with 5/8 mile to go and won by a length in 1.55.3f with trainer/driver Tuomas Korvenoja in the bike.

Crème Brulee is sired by the French sire, Meaulnes du Corta, out of Youronpandidcamera by SJ’s Photo.

The 4/10 favorite Gisela As (sired by Infinitif), driven by Ake Svanstedt, made a costly break going into the first turn but managed to get back into action and finished strong to be third, beaten a head for second place by Pin Kronos (sired by Cantab Hall).

Crème Brulee, sold as a yearling at the Kriterium sale in Sweden for $22,000, took the winner’s purse of $65,000.

On the undercard the Italian-bred 3-year-old filly Rossella Ross (sired by Self Possessed), with Ôrjan Kihlström in the bike, won in a new track record on 1.55.4f.

Rossella Ross is trained by Jerry Riordan, who due to the financial situation in Italian horse racing, has moved some of his trotters to Sweden.

Riordan won two races on the card and had one second.
