Yankee Glide son wins Sweden’s Hambletonian

Quid Pro Quo, a 4-year-old trotter sired by Yankee Glide, won the Sprintermästaren at Halmstad — a Swedish stakes race also called the Swedish Hambletonian as it is raced over the mile distance with eliminations and a final; however in Sweden the race is for 4-year-old trotters.

Yankee Glide son Quid Pro Quo won the Sprintermästaren at Halmstad .

Quid Pro Quo, with Ulf Ohlsson in the bike, advanced to the final by finishing second in his elimination, won by New York U S (sired by Andover Hall) in 1:54.3f.

The other two eliminations were won by Alfaz del Pi (sired by Angus Hall) in 1:54.2f and Increased Workload (sired by Scarlet Knight) in 1:55.4f.

In the final, Quid Pro Quo was in command the whole trip and won very easily by open lengths in 1:54.2, followed by Indigius (sired by Prodigious) with Erik Adielsson in the bike. Inreased Workload with Stefan Melander finished third.

The purse for the winner was $130,000.

Quid Pro Quo is trained by Svante Baath and was bred by Menhammar Stud. His dam, Hostage, was sired by Express Ride and is out of Trapped, she by Bonefish.

Eight of the 10 finalists in the Sprintermästaren had 100 percent North American bloodlines. Andover Hall and Donato Hanover each had two offspring.
