GLADA drivers eager for second race

by Patricia Miller, for the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association

Hazel Park, MI — After a thrilling race last week, the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association members have decided to race it all over again and all the horses except one are back for another try on Monday (May 27).

The seven horse field includes last week’s big winner, Keeping Grace, in rein to Jerry Mihelich. A two hole start will help his quest for a repeat, if he can keep ahead of Richard Roach, last year’s champion, driving Mylittlej from the lucky one hole.

It’s obvious the stretch drive will be close and exciting, but five other eager amateurs are ready to derail the obvious combatants and make a name for themselves and their horses.

James McIlmurray drives April Moonlight from the three hole and Patricia Miller will give her own Hay Look Out a big trip from the four. Maurice Goldschmidt drives his own trainee Garbarino from the five, Kara Buxton steers Longball Hitter from the six and Steve Oldford rounds out the field and enjoys the cool Michigan air with Key To A Star, hoping to find that key to success this week.

The GLADA members are already loving their summer series as do their friends and family cheering on the rail. GLADA appreciates Ladd Biro’s help in scheduling the weekly fun fest and competitive driving opportunity at Hazel Park.
