Artomatic Love, Mississippi Hippy win Saturday features at Dover

Dover, DE — Artomatic Love chalked up her third win in a row and Mississippi Hippy made it three wins in four starts in the Saturday afternoon twin features at Dover Downs.

Mississippi Hippy was a 1:56.1 winner on Saturday.

George Dennis drove Artomatic Love, the only 3-year-old in a $12,000 Delaware female pace, to her third straight win for Claim To Fame LLC. The 1:57.1 win was the second of the day for Dennis, trainer Mike Hall of the Doug Lewis Stable and Claim To Fame. Act Of Magic (Tony Morgan) was runner-up with Ariadne Hanover (Ross Wolfenden) third.

In a male counterpart $10,000 pace for young horses, Todd and Troy Tribbett’s Mississippi Hippy scored in 1:56.1 for Ross Wolfenden. The Mach Three-Maddies Bunny gelding, trained by Joe Hundertpfund, made up for a third-place finish last time. The 4-year-old has won three of five, with a second and a third, since arriving from Ontario. White Liar (Vince Copeland) was second. Shark On Board (Frank Milby) took show honors. The win was the second for both driver Wolfenden and trainer Hundertpfund.

Buffalo Raceway
After winning last week’s Open II in 1:55, which was the fastest mile of the meet so far, Cam Patch, an 8-year-old gelding by Cambest, won the $11,000 Open Pace in 1:56.1 for owners David P. Ball and Jerry R. Reinhart at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night. It was the second win this year for Cam Patch, who now has 32 lifetime wins in 149 attempts. Cam Patch ($3.90), the prohibitive favorite in the race, shot right to the lead from post three and with reinsman Dan Noble took no prisoners, setting all the fractions in the race, :28.4, :58.3 and 1:27.3. A :28.3 last quarter-mile put the winner three-quarters of a length in front of second place finisher Dontgetinskyway (Dave McNeight III). Last week’s Open winner Shu Fu (Ray Fisher, Jr.) came in third. Trained by Alex Giuliani, the $5,500 share of the purse put Cam Patch’s lifetime earnings at $221,838. John Cummings, Jr. led all driver with four wins on the night. They were Macksmith ($12.00), Xcell Irish Spirit ($12.80), One More Molly ($4.10) and His Aliben ($4.40).
