Elora, ON — Aaron Byron picked up a pair of wins and made his announcing debut during Grand River Raceway’s Fun & Frivolity Friday Night card on August 24.

He kicked off the program with a narrow win in the first race aboard Mach Vegas. Sent off at 2-1, Byron piloted the 4-year-old pacer for trainer Robert Shepherd. The pair led gate-to-wire, hanging on to win by a nose over hard-closing J Rs Hurricane (Ryan Holliday).

Aaron Byron called the sixth race on Friday night at Grand River Raceway.

Byron’s next trip was to the announcer’s booth for race six, where he made his calling debut in the track’s guest announcer series, From Bike To Mic.

The action was all one-sided as Businessorpleasure romped to a six length victory in a new career best of 1:55.2 for trainer Kevin Tremblay. It was the pacer’s fifth win of the season in 20 starts for Marc Lemay.

Byron followed up his call of race six with a win in the seventh. It was another nail-biter as 7-1 shot Playboy Killean came on to win by a neck over Young Spirit and Garrett Rooney in 1:56.1. It was the 6-year-old horse’s maiden win for trainer/owner Larry Johnson.
