Friday races held in Hicksville, Ohio

Hicksville, OH — The Defiance County Fair in Hicksville, Ohio, completed its two-session harness racing program with a 13-race card on Friday night (August 24). Seventy-five horses went postward in a mixture of stakes, overnights, late closers and a Signature Series race.

Greg Bateson steered Friskie Flicker (Feelin Friskie-Bydawnearlylite) to victory in the 3-year-old filly pace. John Schuberg trains the filly with the Floral City Stable being the owner. Friskie Flicker paced her mile in 2:00.2.

Emil Konesky’s Trottin On Over (Neely Dunn-Halle Coy) took the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:06.2. Mark Headworth is the trainer-driver of Trottin On Over.

Seneca (S J’s Double Take-Photo Op) picked up the win in the 2-year-old filly trot in her first lifetime start. Larry Lake is the owner-trainer-driver of the filly. Seneca toured the Hicksville oval in 2:10.2.

Dan Venier piloted Where U At (Feelin Friskie-Locator) to the winner’s circle in the 3-year-old colt pace after a mile in 2:03.2. Ty Bates trains the colt with Suzanne Bates and Robyn McGhee paying the bills.

Ima Fancy King (Kingsbridge-Fantasy Fillie) captured the Jay and Helen Volkert Memorial 2-year-old open late closing pace in 2:04. Harley Yoder is the colt’s owner-trainer-driver.

Jeff Batt’s Victorinthevalley (Valley Victor-Butterfly Angel) came home first in the Defiance County Area Horsemen’s Association 3-year-old open late closing trot. Scott Christner is the trainer-driver of Victorinthevalley. The gelding covered the Defiance County Fair twice-around in 2:03.4.

Trottin Brooke was the victor in the Kermit Peter Memorial Trot, which is a part of the Signature Series. Gary Gilliland is the mare’s owner and trainer. Mark Headworth drove Trottin Brooke to a mile in 2:02.2.

Racing action in the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association continues at the Van Wert County Fair in Van Wert on Thursday (August 30) and Friday (August 31). Post time each evening will be at 7 p.m.
