Both young ladies strive to make our world a better place, and the SOA and Yonkers Raceway are proud to assist them in their respective quests.

Olivia Amitrano is the winner of the 2012-2013 $5,000 scholarship.

Olivia is currently enrolled at Fordham University in Rose Hill, N.Y., where she is majoring in psychology along with classes in pre-med, with a goal to be a psychologist/nutritionist, so that one day she may make an impact on those struggling with health issues and improving their quality of life.

Kristen Coyne, the SOA’s $3,000 scholarship winner, is currently attending the Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., with a major in history and education.

While continually maintaining a high G.P.A., she has done volunteer work with children in Camden, N.J., and her goal is to be a special educator so that she will be able to work with special needs children.

The task of evaluating applicants for scholarships is arduous. Once again, Committee Chairman and SOA Director Bob MacDougall and the entire committee have performed yeoman’s work and are thanked for their volunteer efforts.
