Last Chance T is putting together solid juvenile campaign

from the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association

Pompano Beach, FL — On Tuesday (Dec. 13), a 2-year-old pacing gelding won an overnight event at Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park in 1:55.3f with a sharp :28.3 final quarter. The gelding Last Chance T is worth a look.

This son of Six Of Diamonds–Arriva Leru–Safe Arrival was acquired in the 2010 FSBOA Sale for $2,500 by the partnership of Jay Sears and Richard and Sandra Dunmire, longtime breeders and supporters of Florida Standardbreds. Last Chance T was bred by another veteran Florida breeder, Charles Thompson. This pedigree has been in Mr. Thompson’s management for years, producing fast, durable racehorses.

Last Chance T burst into prominence when winning the $62,800 Florida Breeders Stake on Nov. 5, pacing a lifetime best of 1:54.2f with a final panel in :28 for driver Brian Sears.

Since that win Last Chance T has continued to perform well, with a 1-1-1 record in four overnights. His career earnings are $43,580 and this colt has earned a check in every start, pacing eight miles in 1:57 or better and ten final panels in :29 or better.

The maternal family of Last Chance T shows numerous $100,000 winners. Further, the sire Six Of Diamonds has proven to be a producer of early speed. From 57 registered foals, of which 43 are of racing age, 33 have raced, 20 have taken records with 10 under 1:55 (five sub-2:00 2-year-olds) and six have earned more than $50,000. His oldest foals were born in 2007.

Last Chance T illustrates the opportunity to breed, raise and develop Florida-sired Standardbreds to participate in the lucrative Florida-sired stakes program and create future durable racehorses that can compete at any venue.
