Gentleman’s Driving Club trot slated on Thursday at Red Mile

Monticello, NY — Can Rush N Supreme do it again? Last Thursday, Kelly “Sky” Walker won the Billings Trot at the Red Mile with Rush N Supreme in 1:56.4 from the nine hole and this Thursday (Oct. 6) he’ll be looking for a repeat performance when he and his trotter line up from the same post position in the 10-horse Gentleman’s Driving Club trot at the famed Lexington race track.

But Walker can rest assured that it will be no cake walk. Norvelous and “Tar Heel Tom” Williams, along with Celtic Merchant with Steve” You’re Never Too” Oldford aboard, are back to try to make amends.

Norvelous was beaten by just a nose by Rush N Supreme while Celtic Merchant finished a close third after being locked–in before seeing daylight very late in the mile.

“We’ll need some racing luck to win again,” Walker admitted. “My horse is good now and if we don’t get tied up in traffic I still think we’re the one to beat.”

Many of the amateur drivers participating will be able to earn points as long as their trotters meet the standards of the Billings Series.

Among the Billings boys competing include Peter “the Past President” Gerry, Mike “the Mortgage Man” Mitchell, “Phil the Bill” Antonacci and “Lawbook Larry” Farley, making the field inundated with Billings members.

The race will go to post as a non-wagering affair at 6:30 p.m.
