Standardbred rescued from mud in New Jersey

from the USTA Communications Department

Columbus, OH — The 9-year-old Standardbred Oz The Great and his adopter Dominka Nawrot had a crazy day this past weekend, with the horse getting stuck in the mud all the way up to his belly, like something out of a horror movie.

The son of Lindy Lane-Great-Armbro Goal was riding through the woods down a big ravine in Upper Freehold, N.J. when he went into the slop.

The Hope Fire Department responded and rescued Oz The Great by pulling him up out of the mud at a brook in the Cream Ridge section. New Jersey State Troopers also worked the rescue.

Nawrot, who trains Standardbred Retirement Foundation horses for riding, adopted Oz The Great from Mike Peters.
