Monticello, NY — This season’s New York Sire Stakes events at Monticello Raceway will conclude on Wednesday (Sept. 29) when the freshman trotting colts and geldings go to post in four divisions of late closers, each racing for a purse of $13,200.

The freshman trotters and pacers who have earned enough points for the $30,000 finals will convene at Vernon Downs on Friday, Oct. 15, and some of the trotting colts that will go to post on Wednesday will undoubtedly earn a berth in the final event.

The four NY late closer splits will go as races one, four, six and eight on Wednesday’s 15-race card.

Ty Agosta’s Hellogottagobuhbye, with three wins, the fastest in 2:00.1, and with $29,317 on his card will probably be one who will make the Vernon trip. Kellog Racing Stables’ Cash Poor, with six wins in nine starts, also with a mark of 2:00.1, and with purses in excess of $16,000 may be another. The former will start from post position five in race one on Wednesday with Ray Schnittker at the controls and the latter will have John Stark driving when the gelding leaves from the pole position in race four.

Add Jody Weidman’s Nowerland Coldcash and Perry Racing Stables’ Winona, both starting here on Wednesday afternoon, to the list of possible starters in the freshman trotting colt final on Oct. 15.

Brian Cross will handle Nowerland Coldcash, a $23,587 winner with a 2:01.2 record taken at Batavia Downs, from post two in the sixth race while Zeke Parker has the lines behind Winona, an $18,046 winner with a 2:02.3 mark, leaving from post seven in race number eight.

Post time will be at the usual 12:50 p.m.
