Pro Bono Best heads to England

Columbus, OH — Pro Bono Best is on his way to England to stand stud alongside Yankee Lariat and Art’s Conquest after being purchased at the Standardbred Mixed Sale in Harrisburg by Camden Stud.

Pro Bono Best is heading to stallion duty in England.

Pro Bono Best won seven of 12 races as a 2-year-old in 2000 and earned $509,717. He took a mark of 1:51 in winning the Metro Stakes at Woodbine for driver John Campbell and trainer Des Tackoor. He also won divisions of the Champlain and Nassagaweya that year.

After making just one qualifying start as a 3-year-old, he was retired to stud duty in 2002 and bred 106 mares in Kentucky. He spent the 2003-2007 breeding seasons in New York and the 2008 season in Indiana.

Pro Bono Best has had 267 offspring start in races and they have combined to earn nearly $9 million with 57 in 1:55. His richest is Bono Bests, a foal of 2003 who banked $531,745. His fastest is Final Curtain, a foal of 2005 who took a mark of 1:48.2 as a 3-year-old in 2008.
