NH Sweepstakes eliminations Saturday at Rockingham

Salem, NH — A talented pair of invaders has each been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite in the two eliminations for the $30,000 New Hampshire Sweepstakes at Rockingham Park on Saturday, June 13.

Cactus Creek comes in from Tioga Downs in the first of the two eliminations that each carry a purse of $12,500 and Town Attack ships in from Harrah’s Chester to take on the full field of pacers vying to make it to the final here one week later on June 20.

Cactus Creek, trained by Jamie Gerard, is a 6-year-old gelded son of Artsplace who will be driven by Chris Long. Town Attack, another 6-year-old gelding with plenty of experience, will be partnered with Vincent Ginsburg and is trained by Peter Fusco.

Saturday’s card of 10 live races is competitive throughout and the featured event on the undercard will draw plenty of interest. After winning the first leg of the Mountain Skipper series for pacers with Gray Bomber on June 6, John Nason returns in the second leg with the 4-year-old son of Cambest who will go postward as the 9-2 third choice in the field of 10 horses. Nason’s father, Arthur, owned Mountain Skipper when the horse dominated in his day and Nason’s son, Steven, will bring Gray Bomber to the paddock.

With three generations of the Nason family involved in the Mountain Skipper series, Gray Bomber is sure to garner some sentimental attention at the windows and out on the racetrack.

Post time for Saturday is 1:05 p.m. and Rockingham will also conduct live racing with the same first post on Sunday.
