Marlborough, MA — The New England chapter of U.S. Harness Writers (USHWA), will present Mrs. Edith Vaccaro of Stoneham, Mass., with a special award at their 30th Hall of Fame Awards/Dinner program on August 23 at Rockingham Park.
Mrs. Vaccaro, wife of the late Joseph A. Vaccaro, who was one of the founding members of the New England Chapter and its secretary-treasurer for 44 years, will receive the First Lady Award from the chapter for her 50 years of dedicated service to the betterment of the New England Chapter and USHWA. The presentation will be made by Mrs. Mary Ann Ginnetti, a longtime friend.
Mrs. Vaccaro has been an associate member of the chapter for many years and is a retired Boston school teacher. She is the mother of two sons, Mark and Joseph.
The awards program opens with a cocktail hour from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Belmont Room followed by a buffet style dinner with all the fixings, and the awards program chaired by Willam Ellis.
The program features several awards to achievers in harness racing and the induction of Edward M. Callahan, Bruce Ranger and the late Harry Brusie into the chapter’s Hall of Fame.
