Harrisburg, PA — Earl Beal, Jr., President of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association, today announced that the 2008 broadcast season of PA HarnessWeek will be extended through December 20.
It will continue to air on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia every Saturday but starting on August 30, the time slot will switch from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The show’s final episode was originally scheduled for August 23.
“We’re delighted to extend PA HarnessWeek beyond its slated 14 episodes,” said Mr. Beal. “The show has developed a loyal following, both on cable television and the Internet, and our audience obviously wants to see it continue for the duration of the live racing season.”
The final episode will be a special program featuring highlights from The Second Annual Celebration of Pennsylvania Harness Racing, which honors the top harness racing participants statewide. This year’s awards are scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 6, at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Since beginning its run in May, the PA HarnessWeek television show has received some of the highest regional Nielsen ratings for paid commercial programming, as well as positive press coverage in the news and industry media. In addition, the show’s Web site — www.harnessweek.com — which also links to the PA HarnessWeek channel on YouTube.com — has been viewed by thousands of fans from over 19 countries.
