Campbell sweeps Friday features at the Meadowlands

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – April 28, 2006 – Hall of Fame driver John Campbell swept the $32,500 mares pace with Easton Alliance N and the $35,000 condition trot with Muscles Marinara, the co-features on Friday night at the Meadowlands.

Campbell sent Muscles Marinara [$8.00, $4.00, $2.60] to the lead off the gate and controlled the fifth race pace, winning by a length and a quarter over Sand Vic [$4.40, $2.60] and Hez Striking [$2.60]. Even-money favorite Hellava Hush, previously unbeaten in four starts this year, finished fourth.

Muscles Marinara, a six-year-old gelded son of Muscles Yankee, trotted the mile in 1:55 flat, picking up his first win of the year. The Ken Rucker trainee, owned by the Gandolfo Stables and Lenny Zelin, has finished in-the-money in all five starts this year and has banked more than $675,000 lifetime.

In the second race, Easton Alliance [$5.40, $3.60, $2.10] brushed to the lead in mid-stretch off of a first-over trip, winning by a length and three-quarters over Glowing Report [$4.40, $2.10] in 1:51.3 for the mile. It was two and a quarter lengths to 4-5 favorite Burning Point [$2.10] in third.

Trained by Ross Croghan, Easton Alliance is a five-year-old daughter of Village Jasper, racing in the name of Katherine Bardis of Sacramento, California. This year the mare has four wins, three seconds and one third in nine starts. She was the longshot winner of the Overbid Final on March 24 and second best to Loyal Opposition in the Strada Memorial last Saturday. Lifetime, she has earnings of $177,280.
