Sergeant York, the Standardbred known during his racing career as Allaboard Jules, will participate in the funeral procession of the late President Ronald Reagan to the United States Capitol on Wednesday evening.
Sergeant York was renamed when he joined the Caisson Platoon in 1997 for the World War I Medal of Honor winner Alvin York. According to the Associated Press, the Caisson will meet a motorcade bearing President Reagan’s body at 6 pm (eastern) and proceed to the Capitol building for services there.
Sergeant York/Allaboard Jules has served as the riderless horse, symbolic of a fallen leader, since 1998. He raced at Freehold Raceway and Yonkers Raceways from 1994-1996.
