Buckeye Stallion Series at Champaign County Fair

Grove City, OH — The Buckeye Stallion Series continues Tuesday (Aug. 7) evening with 2-year-olds competing in third-leg action at the Champaign County Fair in Urbana, Ohio. One hundred twenty-three horses will contest seventeen races.
The 2-year-old colt pace division will see 38 horses in races three, seven, 10 and 14. Returning Buckeye Stallion Series leg winners include Bllack Hole (Mr Apples-Feel The Thunder), Unlikeanyother (Pet Rock-Scootin Mercedes) and Mr Judge (Dragon Again-Caught The Bouquet). Other pacing colts to watch are recent Ohio Fair Stake winners R J Jetpac (Western Vintage-Broken Star), Cross Country (Palone Ranger-Esquisse Hanover), Western Bay (Art Official-Western Barbie) and Dashing To Da Wire (Charley Barley-Flower Pot).
Twenty-seven entrants in the 2-year-old filly pace division square off in races five, nine, 13 and 18. Two returning Buckeye Stallion Series leg winners are Cookies Empire (Pet Rock-La Diavla) and Atlantic Star (Cheyenne Rei-Atlantic Filly), who also have recent Ohio Fair Stake wins. Other fillies with recent Ohio Fair Stake wins include Cornerd Beach (Beachtrea-Corner Cruiser), Smarty’s Filly (Pet Rock-Smartygirl) and Going To Win (Pet Rock-Miss Walker).
The 2-year-old trotting colt division attracted 34 horses to go in races six, eight, 11, 15 and 17. Returning Buckeye Stallion Series leg winners include Joe Gotta Go (Neely Dunn-My Chere), State Ofmyhead (Broadway Hall-Yankee Jeanie), SV Payton Place (Wishing Stone-Miss Payton) and Surprize Mission (Manofmanymissions-Prize Chip). Recent Ohio Fair Stake winners include two Uncle Peter colts: Frontloader (Uncle Peter-DJ Babe) and Luckycompeter (Uncle Peter-Lucky Billie), as well as a Full Count colt in Count’s Chip (Full Count-Smartchip).
Twenty-four 2-year-old trotting fillies have been split between races four, 12 and 16. Ilianora (Broadway Hall-Nessa Rose), Gayla Kaye (Dejarmbro-Ticket To Glide) and Precious Diamond (Wishing Stone-Lindy’s Top Model) are all the returning Buckeye Stallion Series leg winners in this division. Recent Ohio Fair Stake winners include Dontyouforgetit fillies Don’t Forget Muscle (Dontyouforgetit-On The Muscle) and Wontcatchginnyc (Dontyouforgetit-For Heathers Sake), as well as Stormin Normand fillies Fingerinthefrostin (Stormin Normand-Action On The Lavec) and Sugarcreek Storm (Stormin Normand-Jolie Jule). Another recent Ohio Fair Stake winner in this division is Ladycallstheshots (Uncle Peter-Caviar For the Lady).
The live fair action starts with two Ohio Fair Stake races at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Buckeye Stallion Series. These four 2-year-old divisions will race next at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fair Sept. 19 and 20 for their last preliminary leg before the final at Northfield Park on Oct. 6.
