Binkley, Wengerd, Hay, Arnold, and Morgan pick up wins in Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series

Edgerton, OH — The past eight days have been busy for the ladies participating at the Ohio fairs in the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series.

It all started with two divisions at the Franklin County Fair at Hilliard on July 14. Alesha Binkley found the winner’s circle in the first division with Indian Spirit (Tyler’s Big Mark-Bettacular) after a mile in 1:57. Binkley also owns the 7-year-old gelding with Trent Stohler performing the training duties.

The second split at Hilliard went to Amy Wengerd with the 13-year-old gelding Moreland Flash (Memphis Flash-Carols Cliff). Andrew Coblentz owns Moreland Flash with Wengerd doing the training. It took Moreland Flash 1:58.4 to tour the Hilliard twice-around.

The series moved to the Ottawa County Fair at Oak Harbor on July 15 where Emily Hay steered Royal Delta (Royal Art-On A Dare) to a winning mile in 2:01. Hay trains the 7-year-old mare and also co-owns her with Colton Hay.

The Union County Fair at Marysville played host to both a pacing and a trotting division on July 21. The pacing race was captured by Jazmin Arnold with the 13-year-old stallion Mr Coolie (No Pan Intended-Armbro Vertical). Adam Short is both the owner and trainer of Mr Coolie. The winning time for Mr Coolie was 2:00.1.

Kiara Morgan took the trotting race with Action B (Break The Bank K-BV’s Sister) with a mile in 2:01.2. The 3-year-old gelding is owned by the Kenneth A. Sommer Trust with Virgil Morgan Jr. doing the conditioning.

The latest action in the series ended a few hours later at the Fayette County Fair at Washington Court House with Alesha Binkley and Indian Spirit again coming home first. It took the pair 2:02.3 to complete the mile.

Jazmin Arnold currently leads the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series with 303 points. The remainder of the top ten drivers are as follows: Alesha Binkley (216), Emily Hay (170), Mandy Jones (161), Mary Dawson (142), Elizabeth Murphy (132), Kiara Morgan (130), Amy Wengerd (117), Rhonda Patrick (80), and Kacey Burns (78).

Racing in the Series continues Monday (July 22) with six ladies going to the post at the Seneca County Fair in Tiffin.
