Admiral As wins the Aby Stora Pris

Last Saturday (Aug. 5), the powerful Swedish SRF Stable had to settle for second place in the Hambletonian with Oh Well.  This Saturday (Aug. 12), sort of consolation was delivered in the Aby Stora Pris as another trotter, Admiral As, owned by SRF Stable, won with Ôrjan Kihlström in the bike.

The purse for the winner was $140,000.

Åby Stora Pris is raced over approximately two miles and Admiral As was parked outsider the leader, Power with Robert Bergh most of the trip.

After the SRF Stable placed second in the Hambletonian with Oh Well, they rebounded with a win in the Aby Stora Pris with Admiral As. Kanal 75 Photo.

Down the stretch, Admiral As took over and won by half a length followed by fast finishing Bengurion Jet with Alessandro Gocciadoro, who came from behind using the double open stretch at Åby.

Admiral As is trained by Daniel Redén who took over the training of the 7-year-old trotter four months ago.

Admiral As (sired by Ready Cash) and Bengurion Jet (sired by Maharajah) were bred and raised in Italy

At the track in Argentan, another big race was won by an Italian trotter.  The Criterium de Vitesse de Basse-Normandie – one of very few mile races in France – was won by Capital Mail (sired by Nad Al Sheba) with Gabrielle Gelormini in the bike.

Capital Mail, trained by Fabrice Souloy, won in 1.52.4 and picked up the winner’s purse of 45.000 Euro.
