Batavia, NY – The American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) and North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) recently teamed up for a donation to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (NY).

As part of a special amateur driving event taking place at Batavia Downs on Oct. 4, members of the AHDC and the NAADA competed in a pair of races before presenting a $2,500 check for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester. AHDC President Anthony Verruso and NAADA President Joe Faraldo were joined by competing drivers for the check presentation.
“We enjoyed having the chance to compete at a different venue from our usual races,” Anthony Verruso said. “We get the privilege to go to different states and even different countries to race, so we like to give back to those communities when we come to town. We appreciate the hospitality by Batavia Downs and will continue to race for causes wherever we go.”
The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester is a community-based grassroots organization dedicated to eradicating breast and gynecologic cancers by providing funding for research and advocacy programs at various legislative levels, which are also aimed at funding cancer prevention, studying causes and searching for cures.
As amateur driving clubs, the AHDC and NAADA do not keep the driver’s share of purse earnings when competing. Instead, the money reserved for drivers is given to various charities of various causes.
