Caro, MI – Allamerican Beach rolled to a 1:59.4 win in his $7,750 Michigan-Sired Colt Stakes Blue Division event for 2-year-old male pacers on Sunday (July 20) at the Tuscola County Fair, shaving 1-1/5 seconds off the 2:01 standard set by Believeincaptain earlier in the season.
In line to Brad Kramer, Allamerican Beach sprinted five lengths clear of Ena Mega Delight (driven by Kim Pluta) to control a :28.3 first quarter before backing down the tempo through middle splits of :59.1 and 1:29.2. On the far turn, the Wakazashi Beach-Graney gelding again extended his lead gradually, and he used a :30.2 final quarter to defeat Ena Mega Delight by 5-3/4 lengths. Crush It (David Lake) was a distant third.
Trainer Al Tomlinson co-owns Allamerican Beach, who is now undefeated in three career starts, with Jack Mitchell Jr.
One race earlier, Maize N Boo and trainer-driver Tim Roach won for the third start in a row, sustaining a first-over grind for a 2:02 victory over Cocktail Of Dreams in the $15,400 2-year-old filly pace. The Captain Victorious-The Mistress filly, whom Roach owns in partnership with Dan Nowiski, Tracee Hathway and Gerard Batrow, came up just a fifth of a second shy of Junebug’s 2:01.4 divisional track record.
On the 3-year-old ledger, Taylor Dawn kept her undefeated season alive with a 2:03.3 victory over Miss Wow in the $15,150 filly pace. Kramer rallied the Bondi Hanover-I’ll Deal A Queen filly out of the pocket to win for the fourth time in as many starts this year for trainer Paul Cloer Jr. and owner-breeder Greg Gardner.
Friday’s (July 18) card at Caro also saw a 2:00 performance when 14-year-old gelding Itsonlyrocknroll A and owner-trainer-driver Winter Asher-Stalbaum held on for a neck victory over Prince John (Kody Massey) in 1:59.3 in a $2,000 Free-For-All pace. The son of Million Dollar Cam has now won 72 times in his career, including his three most recent starts.
The Michigan fair harness racing circuit visits the Fowlerville Family Fair on Monday (July 21) with over $200,000 in purses on the line in an eight-race Great Lakes Stakes program. First post is 4 p.m. (EDT).
