Toronto, ON — It wasn’t that long ago that driver Simon Allard was traveling from track to track around Ontario’s B-tracks looking to drive horses. Now the 28-year-old reinsman is making his presence felt on the WEG circuit, as he currently sits third among all WEG drivers with 29 wins.

After steering four winners Saturday night (Feb. 19) at Woodbine Racetrack, Allard remains just 12 wins back from leading driver Jody Jamieson.

The Waterdown, Ontario, resident celebrated a career year last year in both the earnings and win column. Allard sent out 468 winners last year with C$3,769,981 in earnings, while being Georgian Downs’ leading driver.

“I always thought I was ready to come (to Woodbine) but I probably wasn’t,” Allard commented to WEG’s media department. “Now I’m getting more mature and I’m learning and hopefully things continue.”

A native of Saint-Esprit, Quebec, Allard also discusses his goals for 2011 which he currently is achieving.
