In Europe, the 4-year-old mare Allegiant continues the fine form she showed in the USA as a 2- and 3-year-old. On Sunday afternoon (May 25), Allegiant (sired by Tactical Landing) started for the second time in Sweden at Solvalla for trainer Daniel Redén with Ôrjan Kihlström in the bike.
With a fantastic finish, Allegiant won confidently in 1:51.3f ahead of the Italian Funny Gio with Alessandro Gocciadoro and earned a first prize of $52,500.
On Saturday, the French mare Inmarosa set a world record in Harper Hanovers Lopp; Sunday also saw a world record at Solvalla, as the Swedish 3-year-old Wise Guy with Per Nordström won the final in the Breeders Course for 3-year-old colts over 1-5/16 miles in 1:54.1f (mile rate) — an improvement over Aetos Kronos’ old record of 1:55.3f.
Wise Guy, who is by the French sire Face Time Bourbon and the Italian mare All Wise As (she sired by Varenne), defeated the heavy favorite Ginostrabliggi with Gabriele Gelormini and took home a first prize of $155,000. It was the first time the Italian Ginostrabliggi was defeated after eight consecutive wins.
