Columbus, OH — Allen Paul “Butch” Douglas, 73, of Mineral Point, Wis., died April 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Nov. 26, 1950, in Dodgeville, Wis., Mr. Douglas lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passions.
His legacy is one of service and passion. A proud veteran, he served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War, a testament to his undying patriotism and courage.
His work ethic and dedication were further exemplified in his long-standing involvement with the Standardbred racing community, where he was an avid horseman, training and racing horses across Wisconsin and Illinois.
His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and fulfillment.
Mr. Douglas leaves behind a loving family including his devoted wife, Ann; daughter, Dana (Brandon) Poad; son, Dylan (Kayla); daughter-in-law, Denise; grandchildren, Kelsey, Brinley, Avery, Greyson, and Ella; siblings, Ric (Donna), Sheila (Doug) Kelly, Scott (Lori), and Chad; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Aric; parents, Albert and Pauline (Simmons); and his brothers, Kirk and Bryan.
Me. Douglas leaves behind a legacy of resilience, camaraderie, and love. His spirit will forever gallop in the hearts of those who loved him.
