Amelia Williams, 61, dies

Long time Standardbred owner and breeder Amelia Williams passed away Saturday (Feb. 5) surrounded by her family. She was 61.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1960 in New Symrna Beach, Florida. Amelia married her husband, Bob Williams Jr in 1982. They raced a stable all over the Midwest and the Southeast while also raising their children.

Amelia felt that racing horses should be a family affair and the kids could often be found working beside their parents and rushing for Winner’s Circle pictures. Always willing to help someone, Amelia was the “Mother” to all who met her.

Amelia was predeceased by her son, RJ Williams III, and her parents.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 40 years, Bob Williams Jr, her daughter Stacia (Jason), six grandchildren; sisters: Maria Eggers and Marcia Goodrich; and many friends.

Services will be private and at a date yet to be determined.

Memorial contributions can be made on her behalf to the organization of the donor’s choice.
