Warrior One launched off the starting gate to grab the early lead as Victor Kirby settled 1-2 favorite Amigo Volo into third before brushing to the lead just beyond a :27.3 first quarter. Amigo Volo backed the half to :56.2 before facing a first-over attack from Crystal Fashion and Montrell Teague past three-quarters in 1:24.1. The battle continued midway into the lane, however, Amigo Volo proved too powerful and won by two lengths under wraps in 1:53.2. Warrior One (Yannick Gingras) benefitted from a pocket journey to finish second; Crystal Fashion was a gallant third.

Richard “Nifty” Norman trains Amigo Volo, a son of Father Patrick, for the Pinske Stables and David J. Miller.

Tim Tetrick won four races on the 13-race card.

Wednesday night’s (Dec. 29) card at Dover Downs is led by a Mares Open Handicap Pace, carded as race 12. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
