Dover, DE — Asteroid won the $25,000 Open Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (Nov. 5).
Asteroid and driver Tim Tetrick left quickly from post eight and were parked to the opening quarter in :28 before early leader Crystal Fashion (driven by Jason Green) yielded to the pocket. Asteroid was on cruise control to the :57.1 half, and he maintained a comfortable lead until Outside The Fire (Victor Kirby) made a vicious brush up the backstretch. The two trotters matched strides passing the three-quarters in 1:25 before Outside The Fire went off stride.
Asteroid continued on the lead in deep stretch and held off a late surge by Crystal Fashion to win by a neck in 1:54.1. Not For Moni (Allan Davis) saved ground and finished third.
