Sent the third longest shot in the betting, Marcus Melander trainee Bourbonista S bounded off the gate from post 9 for a pocket seat and shook free at the right time spinning for home to dart through a wide inside gap and crush her competition in the C$215,000 Grade 2 Armbro Flight, for older trotting mares, at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night (June 13).
Neighver Punt powers forward for Goodtimes win
Marcus Melander pupil Neighver Punt worked from mid-field off a covered trip and gradually reeled in his competition to score the winning blow late and take the $240,000 Grade 2 Goodtimes Stakes, for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings, on Saturday night (June 13) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Burke/Buter win four; Another C Note 8-for-8 in 2026
The “Burke Brigade” is well-known throughout harness racing, but in northeast Pennsylvania the Standardbred victory machine has become known as the “Burke and Buter Brigade,” as the horses Ron trains are generally driven by Tyler Buter, with this Brigade winning at a phenomenal rate and contributing to both leading their statistical win ranks at the mountain oval. When Buffalo Raceway reopens for the live harness racing season in March 2027, there will be a big change on the track. Starting next season, the passing lane, also known as the ‘lightning lane’, will be eliminated.
