Tony Beltrami led from the pillar and clung to the post to snag a tight victory with All Rise in the $9,000 opening preliminary for the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Fall Trotting Series on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 16) at Freehold Raceway.

Hambletonian victor Tactical Approach rebounded nicely to win the $80,000 fourth round of the Kentucky Championship Series for sophomore male trotters in 1:51.2. Twin B Joe Fresh engaged in a vicious battle with nemesis Strong Poison to capture her respective division of the series conducted for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday (Sept. 10) to collect her fifth consecutive triumph to become the sport’s newest millionaire at Red Mile in 1:49.1.

McArdle, 24, dies
