The fall racing season at Rosecroft, highlighted by the $125,000 Potomac Pace, begins Tuesday (Sept. 19) evening with a 13-race program including a $14,000 pace for fillies and mares.

Tony Beltrami led from the pillar and clung to the post to snag a tight victory with All Rise in the $9,000 opening preliminary for the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Fall Trotting Series on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 16) at Freehold Raceway.

Hambletonian victor Tactical Approach rebounded nicely to win the $80,000 fourth round of the Kentucky Championship Series for sophomore male trotters in 1:51.2. Twin B Joe Fresh engaged in a vicious battle with nemesis Strong Poison to capture her respective division of the series conducted for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday (Sept. 10) to collect her fifth consecutive triumph to become the sport’s newest millionaire at Red Mile in 1:49.1.

Yogi Sheridan zipped off a pocket ride with Lionhead to snag victory in the $15,000 American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Summer Series Final at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania on Saturday (Sept. 9) – a weekend that also included a pair of $9,900 AHDC Pace events at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (Sept. 10).

It is with a heavy heart from all of us at Hickory Lane Farm that we announce that the great racehorse and stallion, McArdle, passed away peacefully at the Farm this past Saturday (Sept. 9) at age 24.

KJ Hunter (Jim Taggert Jr.) took the $12,500 featured pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday (September 10). 

While walking through the paddock after the races at the Skowhegan State Fair last month, Walter Case, Jr called me over. He was standing next to Kevin Switzer, Jr who was in the middle of a blazing week at Skowhegan, seemingly winning every race in which he drove.

Driver Tyler Miller had a night to remember driving five winners including a win with Top Rank ($7.60) in the featured $11,000 Wayne County 6 Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Sept. 9).
