The chilly weather, with intermittent rain drizzling down, didn’t deter Bob “Rapid Rail” Krivelin from his mission Thursday (Nov. 7). The three-time National Amateur Driver of the Year sent his trusty steed, Permanent Joy, to the lead when the wings of the mobile gate folded and then made every pole a winning one en route to a 1-3/4 length victory in the Billings trot at Monticello Raceway.

Darlinonthebeach tops White Birch Farm broodmare dispersal at $450,000
Darlinonthebeach, a 6-year-old pacing mare who earned $1.06 million on the racetrack and is in foal to Always B Miki, sold for $450,000 to Diamond Creek Farm on Thursday as part of the White Birch Farm broodmare dispersal at the Standardbred Horse Sale’s mixed sale. New Jersey’s White Birch Farm sold 30 broodmares at the sale, going for a total of $3.51 million.
New York Sire Stakes set to celebrate 2019 award winners at annual banquet

The end of the calendar year is less than two months away, and harness racing’s biggest equine prize, Horse of the Year, is still up for grabs. Shartin N got nosed out by McWicked for the honor a year ago, and Jo Ann Looney-King, who along with her husband Jim King Jr., trains the 6-year-old daughter of Tintin In America-Bagdarin, is hoping to end the season on a high note at The Meadowlands on Nov. 23 and take home the trophy.
