Dover, DE — For the second straight Sunday, Bad Man Sam overwhelmed eight rivals in winning the $20,000 male claiming allowance at Dover Downs.
Trained and driven by Jason Lynch, Bad Man Sam, who was claimed three starts back by Jim Jacobs, took the lead early, held off the opposition and pulled away for an easy 1:51.3 victory, a lifetime record. Raritan Bay (Bret Brittingham) was best of the rest in finishing second. Lord Terror (Vic Kirby) was third.
The win was the seventh of the year for the Badlands Hanover-Greenspring Jenny gelding. He has now won $55,355 in purses.
Larry Hughes’ Charliesandjimmys came barreling down the lane to win the Delaware $15,000 male claiming allowance in 1:54.3 with Bret Brittingham in the bike. Chang Dynasty (Jim Morand) got up for second in front of Albert Chief A (George Dennis).
Allan Davis, Ross Wolfenden, Vic Kirby and Corey Callahan had driving triples.
This week, Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. The annual Dover Downs Christmas Holiday break begins on Dec. 20 and continues through Dec. 28. Live racing resumes on Sunday (Dec. 29) with post time at 5:30 p.m.
