Barn tours to kick off ‘Back to the Track’ at Scioto

by Dean A. Hoffman, for Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — “Back to the Track” festivities at Scioto Downs begin before the races on Saturday night (August 14) when representatives of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association will conduct barn tours for fans who want a “behind the scenes” glimpse of life at a harness track.

Tours begin at 4:30 p.m., two hours before post time to allow people to enjoy the backstretch tours and still be back in time to see the exciting card of Ohio Sires Stakes events.

Many of the best young horses in the Buckeye State will be in action on Saturday night at Scioto as there are two divisions each of 2-year-old trotters and 2-year-old pacers. The trophies in the Ohio Sires Stakes event will be presented not by racing dignitaries but instead by various loyal racing fans who have supported Scioto Downs for many years.

In addition, there will be an autograph session with drivers, music provided by a DJ, handicapping clinics, and some lucky fans will win rides in the Mike Woebkenberg Starting Gate.

Post time at Scioto on Saturday is 6:30 p.m.
