Vernon, NY — Bettors Donttell (Brad Irvine) captured the $7,500 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (September 19).
Hunter Hill (Jimmy Whittemore) flew out of the gate and laid down all the early fractions. He was first in the quarter in :26.2. Sizzled to the half in :54.3. He cruised to three quarters in 1:23.
As they reached the top of the stretch, Hunter Hill started to tire as third-place finisher Prospectors Gold (Chris Long) took over the lead. Second-place finisher Syracuse Express (Adam Capizzano) then moved first-up to challenge. Bettors Donttell ($5.64) came charging late to get by in time to win in 1:52.3.
Bettors Donttell is a 7-year-old gelding by Bettor’s Delight. He is owned by Gerald Longo and trained by Laura Shock. It was his fifth win this season. He now has 25 career victories.
Brad Irvine, Chris Long, and John MacDonald had driving doubles. Laura Shock had a driving double.
