Vernon, NY – Bettors Donttell (Brad Irvine) won the $7,500 featured Linda Sorenson Memorial Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (July 12).

Capt Jack Hanover led to the quarter in :26. He used a :29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.3. Mister Miami (Chris Long) came first-up to challenge for the lead as they went around the final turn. Capt Jack Hanover led to the three-quarter mark in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch, the battle was on. Third-place finisher Mister Miami, and second-place finisher Capt Jack Hanover were joined three-wide by a late charging Bettors Donttell ($18.40). Bettors Donttell surged to the front and won in 1:51.3.
Bettors Donttell is a 7-year-old gelding by Bettor’s Delight. He is owned by Gerald Longo and trained by Laura Shock. It was his third win of the season. He now has 23 career victories.
Linda Sorenson was involved in harness racing for over 50 years. She was married to Vernon Downs trainer Jeff Sorenson for 41 years.
Jimmy Whittemore and Chris Long had driving doubles. John MacDonald had a driving-training double.
