Vernon, NY — Bettors Donttell (Brad Irvine) captured the featured $8,500 Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (July 26).
Bluesville (Ron Harp) was first to the quarter in a very fast :25.3. He slowed things down with a :30 second quarter as he led to the half in :55.3. Syracuse Express (Chris Long) came first-up heading around the final turn and was first to three-quarters in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch, Bettors Donttell ($5.80) blew right on by to win in 1:51.1. Major Leaguer (Jimmy Whittemore) came on late to finish second. Capt Jack Hanover (John MacDonald) was third.

Bettors Donttell is a 7-year-old gelding by Bettor’s Delight owned by Gerald Longo and trained by Laura Shock. It was his fourth win this season. He now has 24 career victories.
Jimmy Whittemore had a driving grand slam, winning with Dude With Tude in addition to his own trainees Jolly Harbor, Mask On Mask Off and O’er The Ramparts.
