Lebanon, OH — Big Boys Edge shook loose late and swooped the field at the wire to win the featured $22,000 conditioned claiming trot at Miami Valley on Tuesday night (March 3).

In the early goings, Caviar Creek was fired to the lead, taking the field past the opening quarter in a speedy :27.1. Parked to the quarter, Unhinged pressed on to take over the lead near the tote board, leaving A Million Dances uncovered and now in charge of the outer flow. Eventual winner Big Boys Edge got away fourth initially but was shuffled back to sixth on the inside as Unhinged continued to lead past the :56.3 half.
As they headed up the backside, the order remained unchanged as Unhinged led while Caviar Creek remained in the pocket with A Million Dances stalling the outer flow. As they neared the 1:25.2 three-quarters, Caviar Creek popped the pocket and began to challenge Unhinged, Mister Sweet slid out from the rail and moved three-wide off the turn, and Big Boys Edge followed him to a four-wide move. As Unhinged and Caviar Creek battled nose to nose and stride for stride, Big Boys Edge came flying up on the outside to win by a half length in 1:55.1. Caviar Creek finished second while Unhinged rounded out the trifecta.
The win was the first of the year for Big Boys Edge and his 10th career victory for trainer Carl Newland.
Chris Page led all drivers with three wins on the card, two of them coming for trainer Ron Burke.
Racing at Miami Valley returns Wednesday (March 4) with a first post time of 4 p.m.
